Cleaning your skin with soap and water is not enough to clear away the layer of dead skin, you need to exfoliate your skin regularly to get back the soft and smooth skin. Exfoliation is necessary for all the skin types. You should be exfoliating your facial skin and the rest of the body, especially areas like elbows, knees, feet that tend to become dark. Though there are a lot of products available to get rid of dead skin, you need not use the chemical-laden ones. Natural  ingredients available in your kitchen cabinet will help you to get rid of your dull skin and get back that glow. These home remedies will help you to get rid of dead skin cells. 1. Use coffee scrub

Coffee grounds can be used as a  good exfoliator to buff away dead skin cells. Also, coffee is rich in flavonols, which when used directly on skin improves the skin texture and to maintain a glowing complexion.

How to use coffee: In a bowl mix together 3 tablespoons of coffee grounds, 1 tablespoon olive oil or almond oil, 1 tablespoon of honey, and 1 tablespoon of fine sugar. Apply this paste on your face, neck, knees, elbows and foot and massage it in circular motions. Leave it for 5 to 10 minutes and then wash off with warm water. Pat dry and then moisturize your skin.  Use this scrub once a week to see the difference.

2. Use oatmeal scrub

The grainy texture of your morning staple can work as a great exfoliator. The coarse and grainy texture of oatmeal works well on all skin types to get rid of the dead skin. It will not only get rid of the dead skin built up but also excess sebum and other impurities.  It also keeps the skin moisturized.

How to use oatmeal: Add 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, 2 tablespoons of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of honey and mix it well in a bowl. Now take this paste and apply it on your face using circular motions. Leave it for 10 to 15 minutes, wash your face with cool water. Pat dry with a soft towel and then apply moisturizer. You can use this scrub once or twice a week.

3. Use orange peels

Orange peels can be used as a really good exfoliator, all you have to do is store the orange peels and dry them in sunlight for a few days. Grind them into a powder form and store it in an airtight container. Using orange peel scrub will not only help to get rid of dead skin cells but also dirt, and helps to rejuvenate your skin.

How to use orange peel: To use orange peels, mix equal amounts of orange peel powder and yogurt. Apply this paste on your face and neck and leave it for about 20 minutes. Then gently rub off the paste in circular motions with wet hands. Use this method once a week.

4. Sugar and olive oil

You can use a mix of  sugar and olive oil, as the sugar particles will remove the dead skin cells at the same time the olive oil will work as a nice moisturizer.  You can also use this on your lips to get rid of darkened lips.

How to use Sugar and olive oil: Mix half cup of fine sugar and 2 to 3 tablespoons of extra-virgin olive oil. Also add 2 to 3 teaspoons of honey and a  squeeze little lemon juice to this. Apply this onto your skin and then rub it in circular motions for a couple of minutes. You can use this sugar scrub once or twice a week.

5. Use almond scrub

Almonds are  rich in antioxidant vitamins A and E, including them in your diet is a good idea, but you can also include almonds into your beauty regime by making an almond scrub. Using almonds will leave you with healthy and younger-looking skin.

How to use almond scrub: Soak 10 almonds in water or milk overnight, next morning peel off the skin and grind into a granular paste. Into this paste add 2 teaspoons of honey and apply it on your face and neck in circular motions for a couple of minutes. Leave it for about 15 minutes and then wash your face with lukewarm water and pat dry. You can use this scrub twice or thrice a week.

6. Use gram flour

Gram flour or besan is another ingredient that is easily found in your kitchen cabinet. It works as a great exfoliator for your skin to make it smooth and glowing.  If you have oily skin, using besan will also remove excess oil from your skin. Thereby it prevents problems like acne, pimples and blackheads.

How to use gram flour: In a bowl mix together 2 tablespoons of gram flour and a few tablespoons of water or yogurt or rose water. Apply this paste on your skin and neck. Wait until it dries completely and then scrub it off with your wet fingers. Rinse your face and pat dry. You can use this exfolitor once or twice a week.

7. Avocado Seed

Avocados are great for your skin. You can also use the avocado seed as an exfoliator to get rid of dead skin cells. It also helps to remove excess sebum from the skin, and nourish your damaged skin.

How to use avocado seeds:Wash and remove the brown skin of few avocado seeds and grind them into a powder form. Mix 1 tablespoon of the avocado powder with 1 teaspoon each of olive oil and honey. Mix all the ingredients and then rub this mixture all over your face, neck, hands and other body parts. Leave the paste for about 15 minutes and then wash your body, Use this scrub once a week.

Dry Brushing

Dry brushing is an effective way to  remove dead skin cells. Dry brushing can effectively slough off the dead cell buildup on your skin and open up your pores. By doing this not only will you be able to get rid of dead skin cells bu it also tightens your skin and improves its texture.

How to dry brush: Stand upright in your bathroom and start brushing your feet and then move upwards to the legs, thighs, abdomen, chest, back, arms and shoulders. Take your time and do this for about 10 to 20 minutes. Once you have brushed your whole body, shower and pat dry your skin and apply moisturizer. Dry brushing can be done a few times a week.
